While studying for her Master’s degree in International Law at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Andra Hera decided to follow her dream and become a film director. After she graduated film studies at ESRA in Paris, she returned to Romania and worked as a casting director, assistant director, executive producer as well as an acting coach for both professional and non-professional actors. In 2017, she completed her third shortfilm (as Andra Chiriac), Granițe / Borders – an intimate and delicate account of a couple’s separation.
After premiering at the Gent Film Festival in Belgium in 2018, the film has travelled worldwide and was nominated for the Romanian Gopo Awards in 2019. Her most recent work, În mijlocul meu, vocea / The Things We Hide in Silence (2021) is a documentary journey that follows two characters who confront the way in which family beliefs, subjective memory and the voices of the others have shaped their identity.
She is currently in development with two feature film projects.
