For me, cinema – always challenging, always risky, always pushing me to the limits, is about discovering who I am. It is about going behind the mask, behind educated beliefs and ingrained behaviour. What does my memory say about who I am, as a director, as a woman, as a human being? Every time I prepare a new film, the impression that I know my self turns into pieces. All I can say is that this process takes me deeper and closer to being true and alive.
